2006/2007 Trail Season

  * On 10/15/06, Rusty took first place in just the third trial he ran in. This was an open trial at Leedey, Oklahoma and Rusty was one of the youngest dogs entered, at only 16 months of age.  Rusty had a 6/6 at this trial, for a score of 1150. This was the highest score out of the 16 trial, Oklahoma Region, fall trial season.

  * On 2/17/07, Rusty and Pepper took 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in the same trial, at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. I am very proud of this feat, by sweeping the first two placements.

 *  2/24/07 and 2/25/07, was another successful trial weekend. This time at El Reno, Oklahoma. On Saturday, we had another double placement.  Rusty took 3rd place, with Pepper taking 2nd. Pepper would have finished 1st, except for handler error. I hate to admit it but she needs the credit for a great run. Pepper had a 5 bird run, but I missed 2 of the birds. A 4/4 plus a back won the trial, which is what Rusty had for 3rd Place. If it wasn't for me, Pepper would have had her first, 1st Place finish. 

   On Sunday, Rusty took another 1st Place with a great 5/5 run.  This gives him his 3 required, 1st Place finishes, toward his first NSTRA Championship.

 * On 03/11/07, Rusty took another 1st Place in an Open NSTRA Trial at Sharon, Oklahoma. Rusty had a very nice five bird run to win this trial.  Rusty is just 5 points away from his Championship and does not turn 2 until May.  

 * April 1st, brought an end to the Oklahoma Region 2006/2007 Trail season, with Pepper taking a 2nd Place at the Top Flight Game Bird Trial in Bartlesville. I feel we had a very successfull season, especially since this was my first full trail season, that I participated in.

  * I did not really know what to expect, since I was a "rookie" and trialing two dogs that were both under the age of two, when the season started. I think we represented ourselves well. Rusty won the Oklahoma Region Derby Dog Title. He had more than twice the points of the 2nd place dog. Rusty also finished 3rd overall in the Region High Point standings. Adding Rusty's points and the placement points Pepper obtained, I finished 2nd in the Handler of the Year standings.  I think the dogs and I accomplished a lot this season and I can't wait for the 2007/2008 season to start.

  Rusty and Pepper both qualified for the Regional Elimination Trial that will be run on April 14th and 15th.
